Say hello to Astro, Florida Atlantic University’s four-legged robodog.
Astro isn’t your average friendly neighborhood dog, he can respond to voice commands and sit -- and thanks to his 3D-printed head, he actually looks like a Doberman pinscher.
It's not an empty 3D-printed noggin, either -- Astro’s computerized brain is packed with deep learning technology that can help him sniff out explosives, act as a service dog or assist first responders. In the future, the research team at FAU wants to teach Astro how to respond to hand signals, colors and even understand multiple languages (show off). But don’t expect to cuddle with Astro at the end of a long day. He weighs 100 pounds and isn’t furry. Creepy or cool? #Robotdog#Dog#Robot#Gadget#Computer#Brain#Tech#Research#Science#FAU
