Bloody (Go Like)H*ll! Look, I know that all the hipp(ster)-er-than-thou critics may have derisively dismissed this as a “dad movie” but trust me, you won’t have a more enjoyable experience at the the movie theatres this Winter!
G*d Bless the Fox exec who greenlit this amongst-the-last-of-its-kind (“big” budget, large-canvas mainstream dramas aimed at adults) movie and his/her higher-ups who set this unheard-of-in-superhero-IP-land mandate, Mangold (and his many editors) for wrestling this miniseries-worth-of-story into a standalone feature, the sound designer (usually the MVP of these kinds of movies), the production designer (those flaming brake pads!), the stunt driving team, the Nolan-level aversion to CGI(!), the chemistry between the two leads, and the *sprawling* cast (Damon, Balfe, McKinnon, young Jupe, Letts) & especially they-should-just-build-an-acting-nom-wing-for-him-at-the-#Oscars Bale!
PS. What an ending!
PPS. If you stop to think about it, it’s all actually quite subversive… The (Il) Deuce?!🤣🤔

TITLE: Ford V Ferrari
The box office has uh, not been looking too good lately. Frankly, I’m disappointed you all aren’t seeing #DoctorSleep. But, in a pleasantly surprising turn of events, this weekend the majority of people flocked to see #FordVFerrari instead of the corporate product that was #CharliesAngels (I mean, I saw it too, but that’s what I do). Good job, America.
#JamesMangold has been making movies, ranging from good to excellent, for the better part of 20 years. #CopLand, #GirlInterrupted, #WalktheLine, #310toYuma, and most recently, #Logan. Yet nobody really knows who he is. But maybe “Ford V Ferrari” may open their minds.
Personally, I think this film is excellent. Perhaps not a masterpiece (there’s a certain character played by #JoshLucas who felt like a bit much, unless he really was that douchey), but nonetheless, it’s a winner. A rollicking, richly entertaining, old-fashioned blockbuster with marvelous production values. A film that will charm you, thrill you, and creep up on you in ways that you might not expect. It’s a crowd pleaser if I’ve ever seen one, and I can’t speak for the crowd, but I was pleased.
I have never really had an interest in cars. And yet I don’t think you have to to go along with this story, because it has a little of something for everyone. While the cars are the focus, we’re also drawn into the lives of these characters. Well, one in particular, and he’s the key to the film’s success.
His name is #KenMiles, and he’s played by #ChristianBale, an actor I never stop worshiping. And you know, I don’t remember a time he was ever this wonderful. Bale is great here, as is #MattDamon, and the two add a buddy-movie aspect to the film that works.
At two and a half hours, the film never feels laborious, and As someone who didn’t know anything about this event, the film took me for a ride. It’s really worth seeing on the big screen, for its sound editing alone.
While the year is still young, and while I still have some catching up to do, I got a feeling in my bones while I was watching it: a feeling that it could be nominated for Best Picture. Still too early, but I wouldn’t be shocked, nor upset.
Ford v Ferrari
James Mangold directs one hell of a wild ride in Ford v Ferrari. Starring Matt Damon and Christian Bale as the dynamic double-team of Shelby and Miles who piloted the Ford Motor Company's historic win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1966 by taking on the unbeatable juggernaut Ferrari, the film is a rip-roaring racing drama that also makes all the right pitstops to deliver an emotionally-charged tale of human endeavour, ambition, and legacy.
While the riveting chemistry of Damon and Bale is enough to cruise this picture to a photo-finish, it's the way Mangold films the racing scenes and constructs a very classical action film is what truly makes it soar.
Exhilarating, breathtaking, and refreshingly moving.

🎥 Le Mans '66 - 2019. Director - James Mangold.
At the weekend I had my first venture outdoors post heart operation. There wasn't a great deal showing, so my fiancée and I opted for 'Le Mans 66'. Turns out a high octane, adrenaline fuelled racing film probably isn't the best choice for a recently zapped, fragile ticker.
For everyone else, the intensity of the film is probably a good thing. Scrap that ... it is definitely a good thing. The racing action is frequent and frantic, and you don't have to be a gear head to appreciate the exploits of the on screen team tasked with taking on the all conquering Ferarri squad. I have no interest in cars or motor sports whatsoever, and I found myself fully on board with Ford. At two and a half hours long, I worried that I would switch off due to my lack of motoring knowledge - I am glad I was wrong.
Watching Matt Damon and Christian Bale overcome the inevitable obstacles was a continuous joy. Both were excellent in this, but Bale was his usual committed and believable self. In my eyes, he is one of the finest actors we have working today, and surely it is time to hold him in the same calibre as Day Lewis, DiCaprio and Phoenix. His turn as charismatic northerner Ken Miles showed us his undeniable range of character acting, and he clearly had a great time playing the determined driver. Besides Bale's brilliance and Damon's dependability, the supporting cast also do a great job. Josh Lucas as a sneaky brown nose, and Tracy Letts as big boss Henry Ford the second were the two main highlights.

🎥 Le Man '66
Dir- James Mangold
This was a brilliant film that I watched not particularly into the 24hr race at Le Man but interested in #christainbale's effort for an Oscar winning performance. Let me tell you he was ecellent. The story is of #ford trying to build a car that can match the #ferrari. It is excellently shot and makes you will the Ford team on throughout. #mattdamon is strong in this film to as the former race car driver that Ford trusts to battle the main supercar leaders. Ford want to create a name for themselves in Le Man and also in that circuit races. This heavily has an American feel good as it is Ford's effort to topple the European dominance of the 24 race which gives it an excellent chance for an academy award. #christainbale holds centre stage in the film as a British underdog who can really link both sides. He plays a hot head, stubborn driver who has excellent ability and you spend alot of the film disliking him. He is not the American golden boy that America want to spearhead the Ford brand but Matt Damons character believes he is the driver that can get the win for Ford. It is an excellent true story that is directed very well. I would recommend this film to go and see.

Let me just start off saying this film was absolutely fantastic! For a two and a half hour movie... wow the pacing the just EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE THAT WORKED ON THIS FILM MADE A MASTERPIECE! This film is incredible! I’m not a car guy, I’m not a I’ll go see a movie for an actor guy, I’m an overall having the film/piece of cinema hit me in my eye flaps and then just hyper-kajizilate my imagination into OVERDRIVE! I was there man with every character from each of their points of view on the situation and god-damn those race scene on the f#kingg IMAX — WHOO! (I gotta see it again before this film leaves that screen!) Totally worth your time & money to see this bad boy on the best sound system you know of in your area — great family film.
I give Ford V Ferrari 5 shims out of 5 shums. Instant classic. INCREDIBLE. 🤙🙏 #fordvferrari #imax #cineplex #hollywood #steganography #jamesmangold #christianbale #mattdamon #jonbernthal #caitrionabalfe #tracyletts #joshlucas #noahjupe #raymcKinnon #remogirone #mikemccusker
Ford V. Ferrari: Movie Review- Their isn't much not to love about FvF and I was thinking about it, is that surprise? Built on the foundation of a solid story about friendship add in a great director and incredible actors and it's pretty obvious why FvF works. I'm not at all a car person but their is something so fascinating about this story of this too big companies competing against one another, add on top of that this story of friendship and some Great racing scenes and fordV Ferrari is absolutely one of my favourite films of the year. Both Damon and Bale bring nuanced performances and really make these characters feel real and distinct. I loved seeing these two together and in a way where they weren't rivals. This movie because it's got a lot of history to it, it really is interesting and even though it may have a long run time it genuinely keeps your attention. Its the type of movie that even during the movie you remind yourself just how good it is and I think a lot of that is due to James Mangold directing. I loved his Wolverine movies but I'm glad he is back doing something a little deeper. Really enjoyed this movie Grade: A-. #movie#film#newrelease#review#moviereview#fordvferrari#ford#ferrari#mattdamon#christianbale#jonbernthal#joshlucas#noahjupe#jamesmangold#cars#carmovie#1966lemans#racingmovie#sportsmovie#sports

Riveting. #FordvFerrari is enthralling, infuriating and heartbreaking, a story that deserved to be told. #ChristianBale x #MattDamon are outstanding as unsung heroes who gave it their all in the pursuit of excellence in a true story of Ford's quest to outdo Ferrari in the coveted 24 Hours of LeMans race. Director #JamesMangold does an amazing job taking us right into the engine of the story and asks us the right questions, like what we are doing with our lives and for whom we are living it for. You will not be disappointed, the 2.5 hours fly on by like a #FordGT40. #CatrionaBalfe #NoahJupe #JoshLucas #JonBernthal
Note 4

'𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐃 𝐕 𝐅𝐄𝐑𝐑𝐀𝐑𝐈' 𝐚𝐤𝐚 "𝐋𝐄 𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐒 '𝟔𝟔" 𝐍𝐎𝐍-𝐒𝐏𝐎𝐈𝐋𝐄𝐑 𝐑𝐄𝐕𝐈𝐄𝗪: 𝟖½🏆 / 𝟏𝟎
Based on a true story, in fear of the Ford Motor Company closing down in the mid-1960's, Lee Iacocca [Jon Bernthal] suggested to CEO Henry Ford II [Tracy Letts] that Ford needed to be more 'sexy' & appealing to the cashed-up younger market by entering & winning the prestigious 'Le Mans 24-Hour' race, dominated by Ferrari.
When the attempted joint venture between Ford & Ferrari failed, Henry Ford II was enraged with Enzo Ferrari's comments about him & became obsessed with Ford winning the race on its own.
Recruiting visionary car designer [& former Le Mans race winner] Carroll Shelby [Matt Damon] & fearless British driver Ken Miles [Christian Bale], the pair developed a revolutionary Ford race car & struggled to maintain control of the project due to constant corporate interference by the manipulative & power-hungry Leo Beebe [Josh Lucas].
Despite the theatrics between the car manufacturers, the true genius actually lay with both Shelby & Miles & the incredible skill-base that they shared. The corporate engine & aerodynamic designers saw little value in the input of the pair, but it was their uncanny abilities in recognising & challenging the laws of physics that saw them develop such an incredible machine.
🎭 Both Damon & Bale put in outstanding performances worthy of Oscar nominations; Letts, Bernthal & Lucas are very solid supporting cast members. 🎭
🎥🎼 The sound editing & cinematography is amazing as the audience literally feels as if they are changing the gears, themselves, during the development testing of the car & actual Le Mans 24-Hour race. 🎼🎥

Ford v Ferrari is your typical biopic, but under the incredible direction of James Mangold, it has raced its way into the top of my list and become one of my favourite films of the year! I knew the movie was going to be good going into it, but nothing could have prepared me for this experience. The movie plot follows the traditional biopic structure, which is fine, not every biopic needs to stand out. Sometimes playing it safe with the way the story is told is best because it allows the story to be conveyed easily to audiences and for other aspects of the film to shine. And that is exactly that case with this film. The performances steer the entire film! Matt Damon is great as Carroll Shelby, it’s one of his better performances in recent years and he is very enjoyable through out the films. He is incredible in the film’s final scene, but it’s Christian Bale who absolutely steals the movie. Bale is incredible as Ken Miles. Once again undergoing a physical transformation, Bale is creates a magnificent performance as race car driver Ken Miles. Bale will have you laughing because he is such a character, but he is the heart and soul of this story. Without his performance, the movie would not have been as incredible. I’m calling it already, but he will be a major contender this awards season for his performance. The supporting cast is also great, notably Caitriona Balfe as Miles’ wife and Jon Bernthal as Lee Iacocca. The story itself is great, I know very little about cars, but watching Ford trying to outdo Ferrari is such a great story, and with such interesting players, it’s impossible not to enjoy this film. James Mangold does an incredible job directing this film. He keeps the film moving at all times, ensuring the audience is entertained at all moments, whether it being a great character moment, a hilarious scene, or a thrilling car race sequence. And that’s saying something because with trailers, the film was almost three hours and it flew by feeling no longer than two hours maximum. Speaking of the race sequences, this film features the best realistic car racing in any film, beating out Ron Howard’s excellent sequences in Rush. (continued in the comments below)
Ford v Ferrari • PG-13 • 2019 • #jamesmangold #mattdamon #christianbale #jonbernthal #joshlucas #noahjupe
Representations regarding vast contributions from the past enlists varieties of requirements that presents audiences opportunistic windows into the lives of those responsible for such widespread achievements. Genres involved in the theatricalities of the leaps and bounds made in the automobile industry while also including the thrill of racing rarely cross the finish line of successfully holding the attention of the potentially disinterested. “Ford v Ferrari” defies such odds and assuredly places itself in the mixture of a category that ever so often leaves an impact by providing a consistently entertaining storyline with characters driven by a seemingly unwavering confidence for their livelihood and chosen vocation. Witnessing two craftsmen perform their duties to the best of their abilities while displaying a genuine passion for the trade is an absolute blast to watch. Similar to most factual stories, there is no hesitation in its presentation of the realism attached to events going array both in the business of racing, manufacturing, and the trials involved in providing for family. Outside of the dynamite chemistry existing between Matt Damon and Christian Bale lies a thoroughly satisfying, albeit lengthy narrative, that recognizes the importance of establishing an immediacy of connections between the characters introduced and the constant dangers involved in high-velocity automotive production and competitions. #fordvferrari
Grade: A [👍🏻👍🏻]
Ford v Ferrari [IMAX]: This was a real crowd-pleaser of a dad/bro-movie. It was a great racing film that straddled both box-office appeal and critical adulation. James Mangold's direction was excellent and the editing was fantastic, as were the sound design and editing (a contender for Oscar nominations for all three fields). All that together, resulted in adrenaline-pumping, nail-bitingly exciting racing scenes that was superb in an IMAX theatre. However, none of that would have mattered if not for the film's fantastic leading men. Both Matt Damon and Christian Bale exuded undeniable charisma and anchored the film with their naturalistic, lived-in performance. Their easy, bromantic chemistry was palpable and authentic, and that was key to maintaining the audience's attention throughout the entire 152 minutes. Although, at times, the film did feel long but that feeling usually dissipated once the car-scenes kicked in. The film had great acting, a good story, genuine laughs and fabulous driving/racing sequences. However, the real breakout star of the film was the natural - and naturally sizzling - chemistry between the Walsh Bale and his on-screen wife, the lovely, Irish Caitriona Balfe. They both should do a film together. And, mark my words, Noah Jupe will be the next Tom Holland. IMAX was definitely worth it. A sure contender for Oscar nominations in below-the-line categories, with possible nods to Bale and/or Damon, but less likely for Mangold and Best Film. (Full review at bio)
Le Mans ’66. Ford want to build a endurance supercar to beat Ferrari for a race that lasts 24 hours, do they succeed?, best you watch it and find out! Really not in to racing car driving at all, but I loved this. Superb acting from Bale as always, & the rapport between him & Damon was great. I didn’t know the story going into this movie, so it was all a surprise for me. I watched this in IMAX as I get a free upgrade monthly, but I just went for the time, admittedly it looked pretty decent though. Exciting, funny, and entertaining, what’s not to like? 🏎 No.80/2019
