Potted lamp
The simplest LED consists of two electrodes, on which the aluminum reflector (reflector) with a light -emitting crystal is strengthened — the main element of the LED. The crystal usually has the appearance of either a thin plate or a cube. Aluminum, or copper, or other conductor is needed to remove excess heat. However, it is not too much standing out. All this is placed in a plastic transparent lens. Both the reflector and the lens serve to send the released light flow. When connecting the device to the electric network, the electrodes in the semiconductor begin to move in a certain way, as a result of which they give their energy in the form of photons, that is, light particles. The power of this flow is measured in kandela, which means “candle” in Latin (remember the candelabra). We used to say so-a light bulb in so many candles. But not all the semiconductors «know» the light, right, is true? And here is the whole thing, of course, in the crystal. Typically used crystals from alloyed metals (gallium, India, germanium and phosphorescent substance) — Gaul phosphide, phosphide India. When heated, that is, with an electric current pass, the crystal emits a monochrome glow. This is a pure color of the rainbow spectrum — green, red or yellow — it all depends on the chemical composition of the crystal. Now they have already learned to receive other colors, including purely white.
