Laying ceramic tiles: preparatory process

Before starting laying ceramic tiles, it is soaked in clean water for a couple of hours. Thanks to this procedure, ceramic tiles are impregnated with moisture, which helps to improve its adhesion with adhesive, mastic or cement. It is worth noting that not any tile can be soaked in water. The fact is that some manufacturers save on tile production technologies, which is why, after soaking, smudges are formed under an enamel layer. If you are dealing with low -quality finishing material, then together soaking simply wipe the back of each tile before fixing it to the base of the floor or wall surface. Immediately before lining, the walls are checked using a steep rail, after which special “beacons” are attached to their surface — control tiles, which determine the overall level of facing coating. «Beacons» or «tags» are attached alternately. They are attached at the corners of the facing surface, adjusting them symmetrically to each other. Further along the edges of the wall, rumors are placed — wooden rails about two meters long and a thickness of about four centimeters. Reiki play the role of horizontal guides. Please note that the amount of solution should be enough to fill the entire facing area, including the space between the tiles. If you are worried that you cannot provide the same seam thickness around the perimeter of the facing surface, use special “crosses” for tiles, or use marking wedges. The prepared cement mortar is applied to the back of the tile with a trowel, after which it is pressed to the floor or wall. Carefully make sure that the solution applied to the tile evenly fills the space on which it is besieged. An excessive amount of solution formed along the edges of the tiles is removed using a trowel. After the tiles are planted, and the cement solution has hardened enough, the seams between the tiles are cleaned, and then filled with a fresh solution or tinted grout. Next, the facing coating is wiped with a damp rag and traces of construction waste are removed. The tile should not be loaded by a certain amount of time to let the solution thoroughly freeze.
